Sales pitch deck — internal & external

Why developers and enterprises
choose NutriGraphAPI

Version 1.0  ·  May 2026  ·  ScanGeni Ventures Pvt Ltd

The food intelligence API market is broken. Developers pay enterprise prices for crowd-sourced data they can't cache, can't batch, and can't trust for safety-critical decisions. NutriGraphAPI is the first API built to fix all three at once.

01 The problem every competitor ignores

Every other food API forces developers into one of three bad choices: crowd-sourced data of unknown reliability, enterprise pricing with no self-serve access, or restricted terms that prohibit the most common developer use cases — caching, batch processing, and automated requests.

Edamam's actual Terms of Service state: "All plans allow only human, end-user-driven requests. The terms of the API prohibit any automated programmatic requests." You cannot cache more than 4 macronutrients. You cannot build a product that processes data server-side without a human initiating every call. For most real applications, this makes Edamam legally unusable.
Nutritionix starts at $1,850/month — requires a sales call to access — and covers only 600,000 UPCs, heavily weighted toward restaurant items. A solo developer or early-stage startup simply cannot evaluate it before committing.

02 What we built instead

NutriGraphAPI is a two-layer intelligence engine. Every response contains scraped_data — on-label manufacturer declarations — and analysed_data — our AI qualification layer that normalises, verifies, and enriches every attribute across 5 million products.

The result is the deepest food data payload available via API anywhere in the world:

Per-ingredient allergen trees. Not product-level booleans. Every ingredient in every product carries its own allergen object — 11 allergen classes checked per ingredient. Know exactly which ingredient breaks compliance for your user's profile. No other API does this.

30+ clean label fields, stated and qualified. Artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners, preservatives, HFCS, GMO status, ingredient count, recognisability — each with two variants: what the manufacturer declared, and what our AI verified.

Six quality scores in one call. NovaScore, Nutri-Score, EcoScore, Organic, Non-GMO, Carcinogenic flag. No stitching together multiple APIs.

Four religious compliance labels. Halal, Kosher, Jain, Hindu — at product and ingredient level. Reaches 2.2B consumers that every competitor ignores.

Six sustainability flags. PlantBased, Recycled, SustainablePackaging, OrganicPositioning, SocialResponsibility, AnimalWelfare — per product and per ingredient.

03 The pricing model that changes the conversation

Every competitor either cripples the free tier or eliminates it entirely. We give away the complete intelligence payload — every attribute, every score, every flag — on the free tier. The only limit is volume: 1,000 calls per month. You only pay when you scale.

This is not a marketing trick. It is a deliberate architectural choice: the data depth is the product, and no developer should have to buy it blind.

Free
Full payload · 1K calls/mo
$399
Professional · 100K calls
$1,999
Enterprise · 1M calls

Compare this to Nutritionix at $1,850/month for 600K products and a required sales call. We offer 5M products, no sales call, and a full-payload free tier. The value proposition is not a close call.

04 Who we are built for

Four customer archetypes, each with a distinct value unlock:

Health app developers building allergy management, dietary compliance, or personalized grocery tools. The per-ingredient allergen tree is the only data structure that supports genuinely safe allergen filtering. This audience cannot build their core product on any other API.
Clinical nutrition platforms serving dietitians, hospitals, and insurance providers. The stated + qualified dual model, backfill flags, and data provenance chain make NutriGraphAPI auditable — a requirement for clinical deployment that no competitor addresses.
Religious and lifestyle market platforms serving Halal, Kosher, Jain, and Hindu dietary consumers. A combined 2.2B+ person addressable market that literally no other food API serves at this data depth. First-mover advantage is wide open.
CPG brands and retail analytics teams that need to benchmark clean label positioning, sustainability claims, and quality scores across 5M competitor products at API speed. 30+ clean label fields with stated vs. qualified pairs is the only dataset that makes this possible programmatically.

05 Handling objections

You're a newer API — how do I know the data is reliable?
Every attribute traces back to an on-label manufacturer declaration — ingredients lists, allergen statements, certifications — then parsed and AI-qualified for consistency. We don't invent data. We structure and verify what manufacturers already declared. The provenance chain is exposed on every response via the data_source and source fields. You can audit every value back to its origin. Crowd-sourced APIs cannot offer this — you don't know who entered the data or when.
Edamam has been around longer — why switch?
Edamam's Terms of Service prohibit automated requests and limit caching to 4 macronutrients. If your application processes food data server-side, batch-scans products, or caches responses for performance — you are violating Edamam's ToS. NutriGraphAPI places no such restrictions. Batch, cache, automate, build — it's all permitted. We also return 5M+ products vs Edamam's 615K UPCs, with a data depth that is categorically different.
Can I trust a free tier with no credit card?
The free tier is not a stripped preview. It returns the identical payload as paid tiers — every attribute, every score, every flag. The only difference is volume: 1,000 calls per month. This is intentional. We want you to build something real before you pay anything. If the data isn't what we say it is, you find out before you spend a dollar.
What about coverage gaps — what if a product isn't in your database?
A 404 on an unknown UPC triggers a submission pathway via POST /v2/request. We onboard submitted products within 48 hours. Coverage grows with usage. We also accept bulk UPC lists from enterprise customers for pre-loading — contact us to arrange.
You say "label-sourced" — is that as good as manufacturer-verified?
It is a more accurate description of the same reality. Every food API ultimately sources from what manufacturers declare — either on-label, in submissions, or via their own APIs. The difference is what happens next. Our AI qualification layer cross-checks, normalises, and flags inconsistencies across the full 5M product dataset. Crowd-sourced APIs do none of this. Direct manufacturer submission programmes exist for large brands — but the on-label declaration is the legal statement of record for allergens and certifications regardless.

06 The close

The food intelligence API space has been dominated by legacy players with legacy data models for a decade. None of them were built for the applications that exist today — allergen management, religious dietary compliance, ESG-driven grocery, clinical nutrition, clean label analytics.

NutriGraphAPI was. The data depth is real, the free tier is real, the restrictions are non-existent. The only question is how long you want to keep building on a dataset that was never designed for what you're building.

One cURL command tells you everything. Run it. The data speaks for itself.

Start with the data. Decide later.

Full payload free tier. No credit card. No sales call. 1,000 calls to explore 5M products at full depth.
